We were overwhelmed to receive a donation of £205 from Yeo Valley in Cannington. It was a lovely surprise.
We’d like to purchase some safety equipment for our litter picking events. On our list is high vis vests for our towpath volunteers. As well and items in case anyone falls into the canal such as whistles and a thermal blanket. Safety is paramount for us as we can have between 30 and 50 volunteers at each litter pick.
Scott Hardwidge, Processing/Blending Team Manager at Yeo Valley, explained: “I’m delighted that we were able to donate £205 to Rage Against Rubbish. As a keen angler and love the waterways and have picked up rubbish when out fishing.
“I came across the group on social media and thought it would be fantastic to nominate them to receive some of our Yeo Valley community funding, so I put them forward. I was keen to show my appreciation for all the good work they do clearing the rubbish from the canal.
“At Yeo Valley we are very much part of the communities we work in and we want to support the causes that matter to our colleagues and customers. We have made money accessible to each of our sites across the south west. To help them in backing their local charities and communities throughout the year. I am so pleased that we could support Rage Against Rubbish so they can continue to host their monthly litter picks.”
The next Bridgwater & Taunton Canal litter pick will take place on Saturday, August 17 from 9.50am – 12.30pm. It will start from YMCA George Williams Centre on Friarn Avenue in Bridgwater.
