We won the Pride of Sedgemoor Environmental Award! We’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who nominated us.
The Editor of Bridgwater Mercury and Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News, Paul Jones, emailed us last week to say that we had actually won the award. We couldn’t believe it.
The five of us attended the awards presentation on Thursday, May 16 at The McMillan Theatre in Bridgwater. It was a great evening. We are lucky to have some real heroes in our community and you can read all about the other fantastic winners here.
We would like to thank all our volunteers as well as the YMCA, IWA volunteers, The Purplespoon Café and the Canal & River Trust for their ongoing support. Without their help we couldn’t do what we do.
It’s great to have the local community behind us. We don’t do it for the recognition. We just want to make the canal a litter free place for everyone to enjoy. But it’s fantastic that we are reaching the local community and they want to thank us in some way for our effort. Please spread the word about what we do and come on down and join us for one of our litter picks!
